Job Description:

iTrust Human Capital Management is seeking a Cyber Event Lead for one of our clients. This is a 1099 contract position with an hourly rate between $60-80, based on experience. The Cyber Event Lead will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing cyber events, working closely with engineers, stakeholders, and end-users to achieve technical objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems administration, network engineering, and cybersecurity, as well as experience working in classified environments.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with Event Designers and End Users to create detailed technical tasking for proposed cyber events, identifying the necessary technologies and tools.
  • Manage risk and requirements alongside Lead Engineers, ensuring complex tasks are clearly communicated to program leadership.
  • Break down complex instantiations into manageable pieces, effectively tracking tasks and supervising a team of engineers.
  • Support medium to large system deployments, including the planning, designing, and evaluation of software options, selection of operating systems and protocol suites, and configuration of media.
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot system networking elements, including routing, switching, and specialized communication methods such as VPNs.
  • Ensure the system design adheres to customer specifications, quality standards, and budget constraints.
  • Assist site users in deploying and integrating solutions, providing hands-on support during initial integration stages or when issues arise.
  • Provide briefings to senior management and customer personnel on technical matters and contribute to the development of technical presentations.
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness and approval for changes to system infrastructure.
  • Assist with the selection and implementation of security tools, policies, and procedures to enhance overall system security.
  • Liaise with vendors and IT personnel for problem resolution in fielded environments, ensuring system stability.
  • Work in classified and unclassified environments to achieve government goals.

Minimum Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work-related experience in cyber operations or a similar field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the TS/SCI level.
  • Broad technical knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to receive and properly apply guidance from leadership and customers.
  • Experience executing technology assignments in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • High proficiency in systems administration and/or information technology concepts.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce technical reports and deliver presentations.

Desired Skills & Requirements:

  • Experience with software development and/or scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and installing various network devices and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.
  • Familiarity with virtualization tools, particularly VMWare ESXi and vCenter, as well as physical-to-virtual (P2V) conversion.
  • Experience with logical isolation of virtual enclaves to support isolated test environments.
  • Military experience or prior experience as a DoD contractor is a plus.
  • Experience with DoD-standard endpoint toolsets for OCO and DCO efforts (e.g., Kali Linux, Security Onion).
  • Familiarity with the DoD Test and Evaluation (T&E) lifecycle, particularly in the context of cyber testing.
  • CCNA or similar networking certification is a plus.
